I'm sorry to hear you've ran into this issue. Unfortunately, I haven't experienced it myself in testing, and as far as I know we haven't had any reports of the same issue on steam, so I'm not sure what could be causing it.
One thing to try would be to delete the local content on your device and redownload. Make sure you have cloud saving on (when you close the game, you should see a "Sync x%" in blue beside the game title in your Steam library), then right click on the title, and delete local content. When that is finished, reinstall the game and see if that helps.
Also, can you provide your specific device model? That might help us diagnose the issue!
